am i the only person on here who has never watched x factor, strictly come dancing, or big brother, or i'm a celebrity get me out of here?
that makes me feel a bit better - but they all seem to get so much publicity, don't they?! xx
Yep, they're all commercial and overrated! xx
right - i'll stick to my magic roundabout tapes then!

xx
But what about the hidden messages in that evil, corrupt, perverted show! Look at Dougal - obviously the spawn of Satan
!
oh no! not dougal?! but zebedee is an all right sort of guy, isn't he?

I doubt you're the only person...but you should ![]()
(I watch them apart from the Jungle one, and no you're not really missing anything...)
i sort of feel i'm missing out, but then everyone tells me they're not that great - yet they get so much publicity ... duh!
i think i'll take your word for it!
x
Why do you think we respect you so much!
xx
ah - i did wonder!
xx
is the generation game still on?
a person after my own heart.
now i did always try to watch that!
Thankfully I turn the TV over when ever that shite is on. ![]()
[[[hugs]]]
xoxox
don't drop it when you turn it over, will ya?
ha ha ha
xx
I'm always careful

Watching 'normal' people make complete asses of themselves is extremely entertaining I'll have you know!
like me with my hats you mean?!
Of the four, I have onlys seen a little bit of Big Brother, but it was by accident, I promise you.
i was wondering whether i was missing something, but apparently not!
thanks for your comment.
I haven't owned or watched TV for over ten years, and I don't miss it one jot. The news of anything good eventually percolates through to me and I buy it on DVD. ![]()
that sounds like good advice. good idea to save on a tv licence too
Not necessary, so I save the money. ![]()
i'm seriously thinking of following your lead.
The main snag is the regular threatening letters you get from the fascist TV licence police, a private firm that makes the worst sort of clamper look like a saint. Their letters start in a severely accusatory mode and get worse. You can phone them and explain that you don't watch scheduled TV of any sort either broadcast or online, and this gets you two years peace, but then they start again and you have to phone them again. Even then they are very grudging and remain suspicious and unfriendly.
However, they bark is worse than their bite and most of the 'powers' they claim are just a bluff to frighten old ladies and single mums into payeng even if they don't need to. Needless to say, they get paid by results.... ![]()
other people have said the same thing. they just won't let go. i had a similar problem when i was selling a flat and had to leave it empty - completely empty... they still didn't believe i wasn't sneaking in late at night to watch tv!
The notices come from a computer, no logic is applied!
The problem is that with the BBC iPlayer it's more difficult to deny you don't watch on your computer. The licence actually covers watching or recording any TV from anywhere worldwide by whatever means, if you watch it at the moment it is sent out (including obviously, any small transmission delays) - If you watch it an hour later by downloading a podcast or using the iPlayer after the programme has finished, then it's free and you don't need a licence.
They have no right to enter property unless they get a proper search warrant, and for that they need a high level of proof that you have transgressed, such as being able to see from a point outside your property, that you are watching scheduled TV. They also claim to interview you "under caution" which anyone can do. If I get a visit I shall caution them in turn that I'm recording the interview and that it will be used as evidence of criminal harassment when I sue them for breach of privacy and violating my human rights.
I've not seen any except "I'm a z-list wannabe... give me a career change" and even that's getting very, very stale. I hardly noticed it was on this year.
yeah, the only thing i was actually keen to see was the new wallander series on the beeb. i am enjoying that.
No, I don't watch them
a wise man.
I've watched some of all except "I'm an non-entity, get me on that show!" - none of them are particularly exciting!
i suppose i should watch them so i can judge it for myself - it's just that somehow i can't bring myself to do it!
My husband won't watch any of them but I simply love Strictly come Dancing.
Can't stand the rest though xx
i wonder if i'm just put off by the mass hysteria that surrounds them. x
the only one i ever watched was the very first ever series of big brother and that was 8 years ago and novel (even then only watched part way through as i got bored). Reality TV sucks! It seems like a way to 'become famous' or 'comeback' for people with nothing better to do with their time!
it is cheap tv to produce, and it just seems a waste of time and energy to watch something like that! x
Strictly is good! But I haven't watched the others - except for a couple of mesmerising jungle challenges in which Janet Street-Porter terrified a container of snakes ...
now that sounds worth watching!
You don't think I'd watch such drivel.
Austin Healey - that's a car isn't it?
Who the heck is Joe Swash?
JLS? Don't they make those very useful home help things like ironing board covers?
Jade Goodie - wasn't he on something with Tim Brooke-Taylor and Bill Oddy?
Right I must make some dinner before "Celebrity Quickly Come Extra Big Marital Knockout" comes on!
i knew you were a fan!

Alexandra who?
me?
aha!
you are digging a very large hole for yourself.
I'm a blogger "GET ME OUT OF HERE.........."
Ooooooo - I must take this hat off now it's really gone to my head
" I feel pretty ... oh so pretty ...." ![]()
This is all YOUR FAULT KEVIN WILSON! ![]()
I'm joining your bandwagon matey...
I have NEVER (vehemently note) ever watched any of that shite. It really is opium for the masses (sorry I'm getting a bit carried away)
i'm glad about that ... my next post should probably be about what i do want to watch. x
I have to watch Big Brother as it's a lesson in reflexivity for the students - official excuse over. But actually it is also strangley compelling and Jonty from BB8 is a mate of mine and a top bloke offscreen so I shamelessly have to admit viewing for pleasure. My reality TV shame is complete and I wither in the shackles of public humiliation!!! :-)
wither no more!
i don't watch so i can't judge.
anyway, you're a bad influence - i only joined facebook because of you!
Are we not all part of the X Factor of ...."Life"
yes, we probably are!
Quick quick get it on ITV its starting. I have 7 and 14 year old girls so "its on".
damn, i missed it! what happened??
Oh dear I am guilty of all those
BUT in my defence I haven't watched the last 2 years of the X Factor!!!
no need to apologise, new best friend!!
i probably need to broaden my mind! x
Hope you will forgive me Kevin but I do watch it sometimes!!!
I really like family fortunes..... Is that ok!!!!
Ho-Ho to you!!!
xxx
julie - you are forgiven
family fortunes is brilliant!!
especially the sound effects...
xx
I admit to having seen all...oh,the shame!
i feel ashamed that i haven't seen them, so don't worry about it! xx
Join the bottom of the comments...HLOL...no, I'm one...surprise, surprise...
GBHs...XXXX
ah, a kindred spirit ... xx
Definitely...time for bed...night night and sweet dreams, Kev...GBHs...XXX
I can't get into them really. I DO watch the auditions for X factor, but after all the daft acts are gone I lose interest. I can't be doing with strictly OR I'm a celebrity shoot me please. But dammit I do dip in and out of Big Brother. Thank God I'm emigrating is all I can say............. No more Big Brother - ooh unless they have it in Canada?
i expect they'll have a sort of compromise version in canada, won't they?
I'm hoping I will be too busy watching the raccoons and dodging the skunks to notice!
i may have missed this - but whereabouts are you going to live??
Well we are heading to Nova Scotia. But we are going to stay with Hubbys brother in Northern Ontario for a while and then move on from there. At least that's the plan.
i had a holiday in nova scotia a few years ago.
i loved the wide open spaces but got fed up of driving after a while1
Well according to Hubby (and don't quote me coz he does go on at times) You can tie off the steering wheel set the car to cruise control and have a nap. Looking forward to it!
No as you can see you are not alone. Funny how we are all talking about it though. OK just looked at last 10 minutes to find out who won, have to talk to 18 y.o. daughter tomorrow and it will be a good opening gambit.....
yeah, it could well be an age thing, couldn't it?
better dye my hair and start tuning in!
cheers,
kevin
You and me both. NEVER watched ANY of them. I am far too busy with other things. Like blogging. xLux
blogging is much more mindless, isn't it?!
xx
No, you're not the only one. I wouldn't watch any of those programmes if you paid me!
i do feel comforted. i did wonder for a brief moment if i was missing out on something!
thanks for your comment.
Hee hee - not unless you like the repeptitive formula of people walking into a wall of embarrassment and shame.
actually, it is starting to sound quite tempting!

Don't turn to the dark side, Kevin, there are so few of us left!!
