i overheard someone say 'keep your hair on' today.
not heard that for ages.
i'd almost forgotten it.
it's a much better way of saving, 'don't get so upset, my petal'.
i just love expressions like that.

A dap is a plimsoll - the sort of thing children used to wear in PE lessons.
Oh, and I've just thought of another you might like 'She's got more faces than the town hall clock' meaning that the person is two faced (or possibly even four-faced, depending where you live).

Heard a good one today from my Swedish friend, referring to a woman's 'time of the month' as Lingonberry week. I've heard a lot of different names for it but that's my favourite.
Also one of my nan's favourite sayings that's stuck in my head was 'let's play it by ear' meaning take things as they come.

When I am constantly asked what time dinner will be or what time we are going somewhere and I don't know I always reply with "chocolate time" as that is anytime in my house!
My nan always told us when we asked what was for dinner: "Air pie and a walk round followed by windy pudding" Still don't know what it means though!
