as anyone who knows me will testify, i like my gadgets.
but even i am beginning to question the advance of technology that is taking me over.

i realised the other day that i don't use the capacity of this computer at all.
it sits here, gloating and enticing me to switch on, then all i do is word processing, internet (banking and blogging and research for work), and file and edit photographs.
that's about it.

so why was i so keen to get the bloomin' thing when i could have got a simple, old fashioned desktop for about £300 or less?

this was reinforced the other day when i finally found a basic mobile phone my father in law could use.  it had big buttons, a loud ring, a loudspeaker compatible with hearing aids, and you could either make and receive calls or do the same with texts. that's all.
he was delighted.

but me?  my home office is awash with desktop, laptop, scanner, two external hard drives, six inch thick manuals i haven't read, memory sticks, card reader, wireless router, ipod docking station ...

anybody got a typewriter they don't want?
