I'm sure you know what I think about Tesco! Mr Penry reckons it's run by people who want to take over the world (when they've defeated macdonalds, that is!
)-
- 2008-04-26 @ 22:00:19
correct!
and if we ever do populate the moon, we can all guess who will be there first - building their illuminated billboards...the moon, sponsored by tesco!
-
- 2008-04-26 @ 21:59:46
What wrong with Harrogate then? Or alternatively, what is their Tesco resistance strategy? The world should be told.
-
- 2008-04-26 @ 22:01:01
maybe people who live there have more sense than the rest of us!?
-
- 2008-04-26 @ 22:40:46
It's very posh in Harrogate. They probably only do Fortnum and Mason.

-
- 2008-04-27 @ 09:32:51
that's where betty's tea rooms are, isn't it?
very posh!-
- 2008-04-27 @ 09:42:02
Extremely posh for a tearoom, never been there myself http://www.bettys.co.uk/cafe.asp?storyid=%7BAE9011C7-76FF-454B-A247-1C90561470BA%7D

Incredible snobbery!! Tesco's in Harrogate...oh, my word, no! HLOL...big hugs...X
-
- 2008-04-26 @ 22:01:14
Is Tesco the big chain store there? We have Walmart the big discount chain that has run small business under, hire illegal immigrants and treats their employees like scum.

Asda over here is owned by Walmart...dislike it intensely...LOL...Tescos is very large, very brash and prides itself in selling cheap...do shop there sometimes mainly because it's on the way home for hubby at six in the morning and when you've just working a twelve hour night, the supermarket that's nearest to you is the one you'll go to...
Big hugs... -

i object to any business that aspires to global domination.
they're just grocers for goodness sake - but because of their wealth they can just about do anything they like because money talks.
(end of sermon!)
-
- 2008-04-26 @ 22:46:53
I never understand why everyone has it in for Tesco. All the supermarkets would go for world domination if they thought there was a chance. Tesco ship all their wine to a bottling plant in Manchester on barges from Liverpool along the canal if anyone's interested in hijacking a barge or two. See - doing their bit for the environment!!
-
- 2008-04-27 @ 09:37:39
they are my target partly because they are so big, and i instinctively don't trust a business that is so profitable, it becomes a world power!
so even wealthy celebrities can be paid enough to persuade them to tell us in patronising terms that 'every little helps'.
aaargh! stop me - i'm getting cross again!

-
- 2008-04-27 @ 00:25:59
Within one mile radius from home:
1 Tesco superstore
2 Tesco metro
4 Asda
3 LIDL
3 ALDI
millions of ICELAND, FARMFOODS, NETO, etc...
And they are all always full!!!
So.....mmmmm
xx

it's nice here because i've got a corner shop that sells most of the stuff i need.
-
- 2008-04-27 @ 11:19:36
Where do you live? I'm moving with you

It's part of my plans to live in a paradisiac island with a corner shop that sells everything I need
xx-
- 2008-04-27 @ 12:15:20
the isle of kevin - it's the only place to be.
i'll build you a seaside villa straight away!

I hate tesco..they banned my from one of their stores 3 years ago.
I bestow upon you my idea.
Go to tesco, grab a snickers chocolate bar and walk out of the store without paying (like i did, although i forgot to pay
)
And they will ban you.
And you won't go to tesco, ever after...problem solved
-
- 2008-04-27 @ 09:39:01
right - i'm on my way.
i'll get one for you too!
-
- 2008-05-02 @ 20:25:39
I live in the Western Isles and Tesco's coming has split the community. There are those who, like your majesterial self, do not like Tescos, but there are others that like to buy their groceries at the same price as the rest of the UK, and not at a higher offshore island price.
-
- 2008-05-02 @ 23:06:03
i can understand the argument.
i just get twitchy when one company wields so much power.
which side of the debate are you?
-
tesco
@ 2008-04-26 – 21:14:34
let me say straight away, i do not like tesco.i do not like their smug adverts in which 'every little helps' ... their enormous profits.and multi-millionaire celebrities read out rubbish about how you can buy bacon for five pence, or whatever.i like them even less after discovering that there are 121 postcode areas in britain, and from next month, when tesco opens new stores in the western isles, the orkneys and shetland, the only postcode area without a tesco will be harrogate.i must get my staff to arrange a meeting with tess and co to see if they would be interested in closing their store on my island.or renaming it kevco, perhaps.well it's either that, or move to harrogate.them i mean, not me.
QueeneMab
I agree, it is far too smug.
