the robin is not one of my favourite birds because they're so pushy.
like this one, who i am sure wanted to take me on because i ventured near his tree.
he's really giving me the eye, isn't he? little devil.
but i did promise prettyintelligent princess a robin, and i'm a man of my word.
and this is one of my better photographs.
so here you are.
meet robin - if you think you're hard enough.

yes they are rather lovely aren't they?
but i think i love the wren more - i would marry one of them, if i was a male wren, that is.-
- 2008-02-14 @ 16:25:28
I was always confused as a child by the fact that all wrens were Jenny. What were the boys called?
-
- 2008-02-15 @ 11:04:42
well i used to call them ronny.

A special sight... i don't see many of them in our garden.... and i think they have really great characters...
-
- 2008-02-15 @ 11:05:37
yes, they are great to watch.
the one outside my window is even prepared to chase wood pigeons away!

- 2008-02-14 @ 17:26:28
You can tell they're hard. They're always out robin.
Thievin' gits.-
- 2008-02-15 @ 11:06:52
it's true.
i've seen them wait till a blackbird pulled a worm out of the ground, then swoop in and nick it.

I agree with you. I have always wondered why they are described as 'cute' or 'sweet' when they are real bullies in the garden.
He's giving you the eye because he thinks he owns your garden!-
- 2008-02-15 @ 11:07:38
i know.
they're fun to watch but i wouldn't have one as a pet!
-
- 2008-02-14 @ 18:49:12
Aaaah, he's lovely. I love them even though they are bossy, like the blackbirds.
-
- 2008-02-15 @ 11:08:10
i know - they do look good.
-
- 2008-02-14 @ 21:18:31
He's quite a toughy, isn't he. I like the fat, fluffy 'flamin' hell it's cold' ones. That one looks like he's fighting fit and ready to rumble.
-
- 2008-02-15 @ 11:09:25
i know what you mean.
they're the ones bopping around on the frosty ground looking bright red and high on adrenaline.-
- 2008-02-15 @ 19:27:32
It's the only way to be really.

You know what...he is just so not as feisty looking as my robin!!! Mine is blazing red....and he absolutely rules the roost....apart from robin 2...his girlfriend...she's gentle and less red, so I suspect this photo maybe a girl! and robin 3 keeps trying...but they fight in the air!!! Robin 1 and robin 3 just fly at each other mid air and collide, retreat and then do it again!!!
But thanks Kev. Lovely lovely birds. x-

definitely a bossy male.
he stood there and glared at me until i was well away from his patch!

I like robins.... we have a couple who keep trying to get into our kitchen. It sends the dogs potty!
-
- 2008-02-15 @ 11:11:37
i'd love to see that!
don't suppose the robins would be at all intimidated by your dogs though!

Tomato-soup breast.
Very defiant.
Watch your back !-
- 2008-02-15 @ 11:12:43
that sums it up very well!
i was thinking of getting you a robin for your birthday - you being ruby, an' all.-
- 2008-02-17 @ 11:15:26
Thankyou, that is very kind.
I didn't know Faberge did ruby-encrusted robins !

It could be, but the Robin isn't one of my favourite birds. I prefer a Hen, at least you get eggs from it, and if it stops laying, just stick it in the oven ( after doing all the usual bits first, like killing it, plucking it, and the inners bit, that is a bit yucky) but that's just my Humble opinion. Cheers..

yeah, you don't often see robins for sale at the butchers.

Not-Herneschase
Oh they're lovely. They stalk you constantly - it's the noseyness gene I think cos even the Aussie robin is the same.
