if there was no money in the world, do you think we'd all be better off?

Probably, but it would take a **lot** of work to keep everyone chilled out. We'd be experts in communication by the time it'd all settled down

too true.
and we'd have to use something instead.
otherwise how would we buy chocolate?

Only if someone was willing to barter me a Tiffany diamond necklace in exchange for five winter squashes and three cuttings of Penstemon (oh, all right, I'll throw in an out-of-tune song and dance routine as well),

If there was no money... would we be able to appreciate how well off we were?
-
- 2007-10-27 @ 20:18:46
good point - i suppose we'd compare brussel sprouts and home knitted cardigans?

An interesting thought. Perhaps it would be nice change from all the greed that surrounds us now.
-
- 2007-10-28 @ 11:47:13

just imagine the revolution it would cause!

I've often heard people say that 'money is the root of all evil.' Actually the quote is really 'the love of money is the root of all evil.'
It's not money that causes the problems, it's our attitude to it, the way we've allowed it to become our god, our goal and our gaoler.
That said, I'll raise you a pound of carrots and a fried egg!-
- 2007-10-28 @ 11:48:32
very true.
you can have my tank top for a pound of carrots, a fried egg, and a chocolate hobknob.-
- 2007-10-28 @ 16:45:41
Aaaaggh! Not the chocolate Hobnob! I was saving that for New Year!

When me and the kiddies were younger, we were so poor and I had to use my creativity to create fun. For example, we wanted to go tobogganing but had no sled, so I got a plastic garbage bag and we slid down the hill on that!

yes, and i remember playing more with the packaging of toys than the toys themselves!

I often think if I had a vegetable patch in my garden an I bred chickens and rabbits and collected rainwater I'd have enough to live off and wouldn't need any of the crap money brings you.How are we better off working for the'man' instead of working the land? I wanna be a hippy!

you and me both...maybe if we divided up the country into one acre plots, there'd be enough for everyone.

If there was no money in the world some one would invent it.
